Position: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Location: Fargo, North Dakota
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Provide direct patient care, including bathing, dressing, and feeding.
Assist patients with mobility and physical exercises.
Monitor patients' health, including vital signs and symptoms, and report changes to RNs or physicians.
Clinical Skills:
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
Perform wound care and dressing changes.
Collect samples for lab tests, such as blood, urine, and sputum.
Prepare patients for examinations, tests, and procedures.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, observations, and interventions.
Ensure patient records are up-to-date and comply with healthcare regulations and standards.
Patient Education:
Educate patients and their families on health care needs, conditions, and treatment plans.
Provide instructions on home care and self-care procedures.
Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with RNs, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.
Communicate effectively with team members to ensure continuity of care.
Safety and Infection Control:
Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
Follow infection control procedures and protocols.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Professional Development:
Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
Stay current with nursing best practices and healthcare regulations.
Support and mentor new LPNs and nursing assistants.
Qualifications:
Education:
Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
Current, valid state licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Experience:
Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Experience in [specific department or specialty] is a plus.
Skills:
Strong clinical and observational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) and other medical software.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
Additional certifications may be required based on the specialty.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move patients as necessary.
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and bending.
Manual dexterity to perform nursing tasks and operate equipment.
Ability to handle stress and work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:
Work may be performed in various settings, including hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and patient homes.
Exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials.
May require working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
