Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

Assess patients' health conditions and needs through comprehensive evaluations.
Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
Monitor and record patients' vital signs and medical information.

Clinical Skills:

Perform diagnostic tests and interpret results.
Provide wound care, IV therapy, and other medical procedures.
Operate medical equipment and ensure proper usage.
Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid or life support as needed.

Patient Education:

Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care.
Provide instructions on managing illnesses or injuries at home.
Promote healthy lifestyle choices and preventive measures.

Documentation:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
Document all care provided, including assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes.
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.

Collaboration:

Work collaboratively with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care plans and progress.
Coordinate with ancillary staff to ensure comprehensive patient support.

Professional Development:

Stay current with nursing best practices, medical advancements, and regulatory changes.
Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
Mentor and support new nurses and nursing students.

Quality Improvement:

Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
Identify and address potential areas for improvement in clinical practices.
Contribute to the development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
Education:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN) from an accredited nursing program.
Current, valid state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Experience:

Previous clinical experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Experience in [specific department or specialty] is a plus.

Skills:

Strong clinical and critical thinking skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) and other medical software.
Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required depending on the specialty.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move patients as necessary.
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and bending.
Manual dexterity to perform medical procedures and operate equipment.
Ability to handle stress and work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:
Work may be performed in various settings, including hospitals, clinics, and patient homes.
Exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials.
May require working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
